Star Wars Year in Review 2024

Happy New Year to all Star Wars fans! This Wookiee didn’t write last week because he was busy opening gifts from Santa, and not only that, but so you guys can have a break from reading. Let us recap the Star Wars in 2024.

We weren’t even two weeks into 2024 when we got some of the biggest news of the year: The Mandalorian and Grogu are headed to the big screen! But while we wait to find out what the Clan of Two is up to next, there were plenty of exciting stories, bittersweet send-offs, and other announcements, anniversaries, and releases in the Star Wars galaxy. We said goodbye to Clone Force 99 in Star Wars: The Bad Batch and said hello to Kay Vess in Star Wars Outlaws. It was a year that brought not just one, but two (!!) new live-action series to Disney+. The LEGO Group put a fresh spin on the LEGO Star Wars galaxy with Darth Jar Jar and we celebrated the debut of the original Gungan 25 years ago in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Always two there are, right? And the Empire loomed over New York City for one unforgettable evening. source

As 2024 came to an end, here are some favorite Star Wars reveals, releases, and moments that made us excited to be a part of the galaxy far, far away.

The Mandalorian and Grogu movie announced

Ahsoka Season 2 announced.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is taking us on a new adventure in the New Republic.

The Acolyte brought the High Republic era to live-action.

The series finale of Star Wars: The Bad Batch gave Clone Force 99 a touching send-off.

Star Wars: Tales of the Empire dropped.

Imperial Match put the “Empire” in Empire State Building over the New York skyline.

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy officially introduced Darth Jar Jar and LEGO Star Wars turned 25.

Star Wars: Rebels and the Ghost crew celebrated the 10th anniversary.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace celebrated 25th anniversary.

Star Wars: Outlaws gave us the opportunity to be scoundrels.

I was really excited about everything Star Wars related that came out last year. I was really getting into The Acolyte, and was really sad that it will not be renewed for Season 2. But I get it… reviews were not good, Disney didn’t make money from it, and the show had to be cancelled.
On the other hand, I am really enjoying Skeleton Crew, which just released episode 6. Don’t want to spoil it for you guys who didn’t have time to watch it yet, so this Wookiee will give his review of the show once Season 1 finishes. So far it is great and I recommend you to watch it.

LIVE-ACTION

Skeleton Crew - last two episodes in Season 1.
The last two episodes of the new Star Wars series Skeleton Crew will stream this month. The series, inspired by The Goonies and other 1980s Amblin films, focuses on a group of kids who get lost in outer space after finding a wrecked spaceship on their remote planet. In their adventures trying to get back home, they run into pirates and a mysterious character played by Jude Law.

Andor - Season 2.
Everyone involved with Season 1 in front of the camera is returning, including Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller. Season 2 will also feature the return of Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic and Alan Tudyk as K-2SO.

ANIMATED SERIES

Young Jedi Adventures - Season 2 Part 2.
Young Jedi Adventures, the High Republic-era animated series aimed at preschoolers, is currently in the midst of its second season. The first half came out in August 2023, and it had been announced that the second half would debut at the beginning of 2025. No release date has been announced yet for it. More seasons could be on the way too, and that could also be revealed this year.

Visions Volume 3
It was confirmed in November that Star Wars: Visions would return for its third season in 2025. We still don’t know when, exactly, but Lucasfilm did add that, just like in Season 1, it will be an all-Japanese slate of studios working on the series. Though it hasn’t been specified, it’s possible they will tie it to Star Wars Celebration Japan in April, given the relation between the series and the country that will host the convention.

Trivia!

Did you know?

"What planet is Rey from?“

“Jakku.”

Star Wars Celebration

Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025

It’s the biggest event for Star Wars fans in the world. The convention took a gap year in 2024 but will continue its journey overseas in 2025. After visiting London, they are now headed to Tokyo, which will host Star Wars Celebration on April 18-20.

Tickets went on sale months ago, but some individual-day tickets are still available here. Some guests have already been announced for the event, which will likely focus on promoting Andor Season 2 (several members of the cast have already been confirmed), but with only three more months to go, we’ll likely hear about many more guests before the end of the month. Celebrity guest list that are confirmed can be found HERE, and just to name a few…. Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Manny Jacinto…

Not only guest list was introduced, but there was and Badge Art reveal with some of the most creative art stuff there. Above image is just one of many like it, and if you want to check it out, you can find more images HERE.
