The critically-acclaimed series of animated shorts returns to Japan for a third installment in collaboration with nine anime studios.

Star Wars: Visions is returning to its anime roots with nine new shorts slated for release next year.
At the 2024 Disney APAC Content Showcase, it was exclusively revealed that Star Wars: Visions will debut a third volume in 2025. The award-winning series first premiered in 2021, with nine shorts by seven different Japanese anime studios celebrating the mythology of Star Wars through unique cultural perspectives.
Last year’s second volume took the imaginative series on a global tour, featuring animation from across Japan, India, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Chile, France, South Africa, South Korea, and the United States.

Nine studios contributing to Star Wars: Visions Volume 3

Now with Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, the animated anthology returns to where it all began with nine shorts from nine different anime studios, including returning contributors Kamikaze Douga, Kinema citrus Co., Production I.G, and TRIGGER. The next installment will also introduce five new anime studios to the world of Star Wars — ANIMA (in co-production with Kamikaze Douga), David Production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio — to further demonstrate the diversity and creativity of Japanese animation. source

Movie removed from 2026 slate

Disney removes “Star Wars” movie from 2026 slate, replaced by “Ice Age 6”

Disney has removed an untitled “Star Wars” film previously scheduled for Dec. 18, 2026 from its release calendar. “Ice Age 6” will move into its spot.

While it was never confirmed exactly what this project would be, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy was previously announced as the director of an upcoming “Star Wars” film following Daisy Ridley‘s Rey after the events of 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” The film lost screenwriter Steven Knight earlier this year (after Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson previously departed the project). Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said at last year’s Star Wars Celebration that Ridley’s new film would follow Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order.

It wouldn’t be the first time a potential entry in the beloved space opera franchise ended before it began: new installments from director Patty Jenkins, Marvel producer Kevin Feige, “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson and “Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have been announced over the years, but none ever came to fruition.

The next “Star Wars” movie, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” from director Jon Favreau, is scheduled to premiere in May 2026. Another untitled “Star Wars” film remains on the slate for Dec. 17, 2027.

Elsewhere in a galaxy far, far away, Lucasfilm revealed last week that “X-Men” alum Simon Kinberg would write and produce a new trilogy with Kennedy. source

Hallmark recalls Cad Bane Christmas Tree Ornaments due to risk of mold exposure

Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Tree Ornaments featuring the Cad Bane character from Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett is being recalled.
The reason is that the brown paint on the exterior of the product did not fully dry before packaging, causing mold to grow on the exterior surface of the ornament, posing risk of respiratory issues to consumers due to mold exposure.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ornament and return it to their Hallmark Gold Crown store or follow the return instructions online at www.hallmark.com to receive a postage paid shipping label for a full refund. Consumers will receive a full refund in the form of original payment. No purchase receipt is required to receive the refund.

The firm is aware of 16 consumer reports of the recalled tree ornaments having mold on them when they were taken out of the box. No injuries have been reported.

The product was sold at Hallmark Gold Crown stores nationwide and online at Hallmark.com from September 2024 through October 2024 for about $22. source

“Seeds Of Starlight”
High Republic audio book announced

A new High Republic story called Seeds of Starlight has been announced, and it’s releasing this month.

Seeds of Starlight is the first of a two-part audiobook releasing exclusively on Audible on November 14th. Written by George Mann, the title will be taking listeners back to Eiram, the ocean planet where the wreckage of Starlight Beacon currently lies half submerged, after its destruction at the end of The High Republic Phase 1.

Jedi padawans Tep Tep and Kildo will be returning for the tale after their introduction in novel and audiobook Escape From Valo, along with a brand new character; fellow padawan Cam Lindon. The story’s synopsis reads:
“When people start going missing on the oceanic world of Eiram, one Jedi Master and three Padawans are all that the Jedi can spare to investigate. Upon their arrival the Jedi quickly realize there is more at stake than they could possibly have imagined. A dangerous threat has emerged from the crashed Starlight Beacon beneath the ocean depths, and no one is safe, not even the Jedi…"

The audiobook is narrated by Todd Haberkorn and the cover art is by Jake Bartok. Seeds of Starlight arrives on Audible on November 14th, 2024. source
