Director Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter film start production this fall

Ryan Gosling is joining the Star Wars galaxy in a new film directed by Shawn Levy.

Levy, who recently directed and produced Marvel’s hit Deadpool & Wolverine, made a surprise appearance during The Mandalorian and Grogu panel today, joining Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni on stage to confirm his project for the live audience at Star Wars Celebration Japan.

One of several theatrical projects still in development from Lucasfilm, including films by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, Taika Waititi and a new trilogy by Simon Kinberg, Levy’s film — Star Wars: Starfighter — will star Gosling and go into production starting this fall.

Set approximately five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Gosling will play a brand-new character teased by the actor’s appearance on stage.

Just announced on the Star Wars Celebration LIVE! Stage, Fortnite: Galactic Battle is an all-new collaboration between Star Wars and Fortnite launching on May 2, 2025.

Players can expect a number of surprises from across every established Star Wars era including:

• A Star Wars-themed Battle Pass featuring iconic characters like Emperor Palpatine and mashups like Wookiee Cuddle Team Leader as seen on stage at Star Wars Celebration Japan

• All-new Item Shop offerings including Mace Windu

• The ability to pilot and co-pilot X-wings and TIE fighters

• Themed map locations

Each week will have a different overarching theme:

• Imperial Takeover – May 2, 2025

• The Pull of the Force – May 8, 2025

• Mandalorian Rising – May 22, 2025

• Star Destroyer Bombardment – May 29, 2025

• Death Star Sabotage – June 7, 2025

Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune, available May 15th

Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune will be automatically accessible and free to Star Wars Outlaws Season Pass owners or available for separate purchase for a suggested retail price of $14.99. With the release of Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune, Ultimate and Deluxe Edition owners also receive the Naboo Nobility and Desert Nomad cosmetic packs.

As part of the update alongside A Pirate’s Fortune launching on May 15, all players will be gifted cosmetic items inspired by Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which will include an outfit for Nix, a Trophy for the speeder and a Trinket for both the speeder and the Trailblazer! Hyperspace Stories—Codebreaker 1 is the upcoming first issue of the 2025 canon comic book miniseries Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories—Codebreaker. The issue will be written by Ethan Sacks, illustrated by Marc Yarza, Jose Marzan Jr., and Nicola Righi, and published by Dark Horse Comics on April 30, 2025.
