Hound is new Baylan

Rory McCann is set to replace late Ray Stevenson

Scottish actor Rory McCann, best known for playing the burly brute The Hound on HBO’s Game of Thrones, will replace late actor Ray Stevenson for a second season of Star Wars show Ahsoka, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Stevenson played the hulking former Jedi known as Baylan Skoll in the Disney+ series. He died after a brief illness in May 2023, three months before the series premiered. The actor was a fan favorite, thanks to his resonant voice, humor and roles in Punisher: War Zone, the Thor movies and TV’s Rome.

Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson as another former Jedi, the titular Ahsoka Tano, who teams with a former apprentice in order to stop the evil Empire from reforming. Two obstacles in her path were Skoll and his apprentice, Shin Hati, played by Ivanna Sakhno.

It is unclear when the new season is to begin shooting or who will be directing. Dave Filoni was the showrunner of season one, and is returning in the same capacity. source

Skeleton Crew sets a record for - low viewership

No matter how good the show is, it seems that it failed to leave a lasting impression on the larger Star Wars fandom. The show had a disappointing debut, according to Nielsen’s streaming data. In its first week, the show recorded the lowest viewership of any Star Wars series, with a combined total of less than 382 million minutes watched across its two episodes.

Episode 1 had 46 minutes in length, while Episode 2 had just 29 minutes, marking a steep drop. This performance was approximately 20% lower than ‘The Acolyte.’ As a result, ‘Skeleton Crew’ didn’t make it into Disney+’s Top 10 Originals, a first for a Star Wars show.

The premiere saw a significant drop in viewership compared to other Star Wars series on Disney+. Previous premieres like ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 and ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ garnered over 1 billion minutes watched, while other shows like ‘The Acolyte’ and ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ saw lower, but still strong numbers.

  • ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2: 1.032 billion minutes

  • ‘The Book of Boba Fett:’ 389 million minutes

  • ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’: 1.026 billion minutes

  • ‘Andor’: 624 million minutes

  • ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3: 823 million minutes

  • ‘Ahsoka’: 829 million minutes

  • ‘The Acolyte’: 488 million minutes

This is just one more piece of evidence that Star Wars is currently struggling to draw in an audience and that some changes are needed. This is unfortunate for the show however as it really did offer something new, even if it was targeted primarily toward children. source

Note: These stats are only for first 2 episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, we are still waiting to see the full stats after the season is finished, for full picture of this situation.

Hello there!

Rumor is - Obi-Wan is back in Ahsoka season 2

According to Kristian Harloff, Hayden Christensen will play a “pretty big role” in the upcoming season. Alongside him, Ariana Greenblatt is set to return as young Ahsoka. The most exciting news? Ewan McGregor could reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi!

Dave Filoni is writing the new season and hinted at recreating key moments from The Clone Wars, possibly involving the Mortis Gods. This move seems perfect for bridging the gap for viewers who may not be familiar with animated shows like The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

At the Skeleton Crew premiere, Filoni shared that he’s deep into the writing process and is excited to see how fans will react to the new arcs. He also praised Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka, and expressed his eagerness to continue working with her.

As we await more details at Star Wars Celebration in Japan this April, we can expect updates on both Ahsoka and The Mandalorian. source
