Neat little easter egg
Cool reference to George Lucas’s debut film THX 1138 in Andor season 2
The Andor season 2 finale includes a neat, deep-cut Easter egg that references Star Wars director George Lucas' first-ever movie from 1971 - THX 1338.
In Andor season 2 episode 12, Dedra Meero is imprisoned by the ISB after it's revealed that she accidentally received top secret correspondence about the creation of the Death Star, but kept the information instead of reporting and deleting it, which allowed to rebels to find out about the Death Star when her computer was hacked.
One shot in the episode, as flagged by a fan on Twitter, shows Dedra captured on CCTV in her cell, with her identifying information on-screen. This is pretty much identical to a shot in THX 1138, which shows the titular character in prison.

Translated Aurebesh is also the same.
Andor isn't the first time THX 1138 has been referenced in the galaxy far, far away, either. In A New Hope, Luke Skywalker says he's a prisoner transferred from Cell Block 1138 and Clone Marshal Commander Bacara, who appears in Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars, has the clone trooper designation CC-1138.
Released in 1971, THX 1138 was George Lucas' debut feature film. The sci-fi thriller is set in a world where citizens are forced to take emotion-suppressing drugs and are controlled by android police. THX 1138 is played by Robert Duvall and is an employee of an android factory who finds himself in trouble when he accidentally stops taking his mandated drugs. Lucas followed up the film with 1973's American Graffiti and, of course, 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope.

Andor Season 2 Emmy submission revealed in 23 categories

Executive Producer and star of the show - Diego Luna
Variety has exclusively learned Disney+ has officially submitted the second season of its critically acclaimed “Star Wars” series “Andor” for Emmy consideration in 23 categories. The mouse house is aiming high, placing its flagship drama in top-tier races, including outstanding drama series, and also revealing its episode selections for directing and writing submissions.
Star Diego Luna, who also serves as an executive producer, is again submitted for lead drama actor for his portrayal of Cassian Andor. While not nominated for the show’s first season, Luna’s performance this time brings more internal conflict and character evolution — an arc Disney+ hopes will resonate with voters. Luna will also be up for supporting actor (limited series) consideration for his role as boxing coach Andy Lujan in Hulu’s miniseries “La Máquina.”
The supporting actor category features possible bids from Stellan Skarsgård and Kyle Soller, while the supporting actress category includes a packed roster: Denise Gough, Adria Arjona, Faye Marsay, Elizabeth Dulau, and fan favorite Genevieve O’Reilly, who in particular, was highlighted for her turn of Mon Mothma, a senator torn between personal sacrifice and political revolution.
In the guest actor category, Disney+ is banking on the performances from Ben Mendelsohn, who reprises his role as Orson Krennic in episode 211, “Who Else Knows?”; Forest Whitaker, returning as Saw Gerrera in episode 205, “I Have Friends Everywhere”; and newcomer Benjamin Bratt, appearing in episode 209. Varada Sethu is the sole submission in the guest actress category for her performance in episode 206, “What a Festive Evening.”

Star Wars movie in Deadpool-style?
Ryan Reynolds pitched R-rated Star Wars movie to Disney
Ryan Reynolds, known for his role as Deadpool, has made a surprising pitch to Disney. He wants to create an R-rated Star Wars movie.
The idea might sound unusual, but Reynolds thinks it could work really well. He shared the news during an interview on The Box Office Podcast with Scott Mendelson. Reynolds explained that the film wouldn’t be R-rated just to be violent or vulgar. Instead, he believes it could be a powerful way to tell deeper, more emotional stories in the Star Wars universe.

“I pitched to Disney,” Reynolds said. “I said, ‘Why don’t we do an R-rated Star Wars property? It doesn’t have to be overt, A+ characters, there’s a wide range of characters you could use.’”
He made it clear that the rating wasn’t just about adult content. “And I don’t mean R-rated to be vulgar,” he continued. “R-rated as a Trojan Horse for emotion. I always wonder why studios don’t want to just gamble on something like that.”
Reynolds is known for pushing creative limits, especially after making Deadpool a big success despite its R rating. That movie proved that audiences are open to more mature superhero stories, if they’re done well.
Now, he’s hoping the same idea can apply to Star Wars. He suggests that the galaxy far, far away has a lot of unexplored corners and characters that could support a deeper, darker story. These characters don’t have to be the big names like Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. They could be new or lesser-known, allowing for fresh stories with a unique tone.
So far, Disney hasn’t said anything publicly about the pitch. But with more studios experimenting with mature content, and fans showing they’re ready for different kinds of storytelling, who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll see an R-rated Star Wars movie led by Ryan Reynolds himself. source
