Cal Kestis in live-action, maybe.

There are rumors about Cal Kestis live-action debut.

Cal Kestis going live!

Cal Kestis live-action debut might happen

Lucasfilm is reportedly planning to bring Cal Kestis, the protagonist from the Star Wars Jedi video games, into a live-action project that could be a movie or a Disney+ series. Daniel Richtman, a well-known industry insider, shared this information on his Patreon account.

It’s unclear if Cameron Monaghan, who portrays Cal in the games, will reprise his role in the live-action adaptation. Given his strong connection to the character, many hope he will.

The timeline of the Star Wars Jedi games is set around 9 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin). In contrast, series like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka occur approximately nine years after A New Hope. This difference in timelines might influence how Cal’s character is integrated into live-action storytelling.

Jon Favreau, co-creator of The Mandalorian, has previously addressed the possibility of incorporating characters from the Star Wars Jedi series into live-action. While he appreciates the rich stories from various Star Wars media, he hasn’t confirmed any specific plans for Cal Kestis.

As of now, Lucasfilm hasn’t officially announced any live-action projects featuring Cal Kestis. However, the character’s growing popularity and the success of the video games suggest that his transition to live-action could be on the horizon, and the rumors point to it being so. source

Skeleton Crew ends - short review

Skeleton Crew ended last week and it seems the reviews are good amongst the fanbase. Even if viewership wasn’t what Disney expected in first few weeks, the ratings showed promise. I think the pace of the series was on point, story was well written, and characters development was really good.

First things first, there is Jude Law. That is already a good reason to watch the show. That man was great in every project he worked on, and is incredibly talented actor. Not only him, I think Neel was a great and fun character, who was portrayed by Robert Timothy Smith. Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstron) as a character was developed really well towards the end. KB (Kyriana Kratter) had her moments where she shined but with limited opportunities. Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) felt just like any of us when we were kids, who were bored and wanted to do something and go somewhere.

In the beginning of the series it reminded me of Stranger Things where kids are going on adventure. We can see some elements of Goonies there, and as story went its way with pirates, it looked like Pirates of the Caribbean at one point. I really enjoyed that mixture and didn’t expect to see Star Wars franchise going in directions of Pirates/Scoundrels any time soon, but I am glad it did.
There is still no confirmation if there will be a season 2. They wrapped the story in season 1, but there is room to expand that story even more. I think Disney played their cards right by leaving some leeway until the complete picture is shown to see if it’s worth it to shoot another season.

Now, I don’t want to spoil anything for you guys who still didn’t watch it, so I am just going to give my final rating = 7,5/10.
Why that rating? Show is great, but not peak Star Wars. Some things could’ve been better, but overall it was really good. Most of the fanbase is comparing it with Andor, and I think its unfair because those are two completely different stories. You can feel it that you are in Star Wars Universe, you see interesting new creatures, fancy ship battle, lightsabers, cantina, Jedi, new planet… They ticked all the (Star Wars) boxes.

Trivia!

Did you know?

Well, maybe next season.

Yasmine Al Massri played Jod’s Jedi Master in deleted scene

Actress Yasmine Al Massri has taken to social media to share that she was supposed to appear in Skeleton Crew as Jod Na Nawood’s Jedi Master. On Instagram, the actress showed off behind-the-scenes photos of her in costume and of her training on set, even wielding a prop lightsaber. Al Massri and her character eventually did not make the final cut.

Yasmine Al Massri writes that it was a very small role, but nonetheless meaningful. She states that the crew even thanked her for portraying the first female Arab Jedi in Star Wars. Below is a screenshot of her post, as well as what she looked like for the show:

As it is now, audiences get hints as to Jod’s past. In the last episode, “The Real Good Guys,” Jod delivers some exposition indicating that his Master was killed when he was young. He was abandoned and left starving. It appears that a scene featuring Jod’s Master was filmed but didn’t make the final edit.

Interestingly enough, showrunners Jon Watts and Christopher Ford talked about a flashback scene with Entertainment Weekly where they thought about including more of Jod’s backstory. They eventually eliminated that portion, wanting to portray Jod more from the perspective of the children.

In the same interview, both Watts and Ford state that they have more ideas for future installments of Skeleton Crew. But they are waiting to see the show’s overall reception. Perhaps Al Massri’s role and scene could be shown later in the future. source

Marvel’s Star Wars launches new comic that is set after ROTJ

Marvel’s Star Wars, the flagship comic that expands our understanding of the original trilogy, is relaunching this May with a new series of stories set after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi!

It’s the dawn of the New Republic, and as the dust settles after the Battle of Jakku our rebel heroes — Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, and Han Solo — find themselves forging a new order as pirates and thieves swarm to fill the power vacuum left behind by the fallen Empire.

The comic, written by Los Angeles Times Book Prize winner and bestselling author Alex Segura with cover and interior art by Phil Noto, reintroduces old friends like Mon Mothma (and, yes, that is Beilert Valance on the variant cover from Leinil Francis Yu!), along with new allies and foes to enter a bold new chapter for the series. "It's a huge honor — and massive responsibility — to steer the Star Wars flagship, and I couldn't ask for a better collaborator than Phil Noto, who is just a masterful artist, and a Star Wars visionary,” Segura tells StarWars.com.

Now that we've put the period at the end of the Galactic Civil War with the Battle of Jakku, we can speed ahead into a new, uncharted era, with some new galactic threats, foes, and mysteries for our beloved heroes to grapple with, blending the familiar with the new and shocking,” adds Segura. “These stories will be packed with action and the character moments Star Wars fans have come to expect, featuring twists on the galaxy and landscape we know, with an eye toward making sure people can jump in easily and with any issue. We can't wait."
